Learn More About Soma & Solas

Meet Stacey

Hi! I’m Stacey, the founder of Soma & Solas.

I’m a mum of three, a somatic breathwork facilitator, and someone who spent a long time living in “go mode.”

Like many people, I became very good at holding everything together; family, responsibilities, routines, everyday life, while slowly disconnecting from myself in the process.

Soma & Solas was created from that experience.

Not from having everything figured out, but from learning what it feels like to slow down enough to reconnect with myself again.

The Meaning Behind Soma and Solas

Soma & Solas is deeply personal to me, rooted in both the work I offer and my family heritage.

My grandmothers were Greek and Scottish, and the name brings those two lineages together.

Soma is a Greek word meaning “the body” — where stress, emotion, tension, and lived experience are held.

Solas, a Scottish Gaelic word meaning “light,” speaks to reconnecting with your own inner light — the part of you that can become buried beneath stress, overwhelm, and the demands of everyday life.

Together, Soma & Solas represents the connection between body and self. This work isn’t about becoming someone new; it’s about creating space to feel safe enough to return to yourself and reconnect with your own light.

Why I Created Soma and Solas

I created Soma & Solas for people who are feeling overwhelmed, overstimulated, emotionally exhausted, or disconnected from themselves while still trying to function through everyday life.

This work is not about perfection, performance, or forcing transformation. It’s about creating grounded spaces where people can slow down, reconnect with their body, and build greater nervous system awareness and capacity over time.

No pressure to have a breakthrough. No expectation to be spiritual. No need to be “good” at breathwork. Just space to arrive as you are.

How It Started

My introduction to breathwork began quietly.

I first discovered it through a podcast before eventually attending a local breath and ice session almost on a whim. I nearly didn’t go, life was busy, I was tired, and part of me felt uncomfortable stepping into something unfamiliar.

But something about the experience stayed with me.

At first, I didn’t understand the science behind breathwork or nervous system regulation. I just knew I felt different afterwards; calmer, more present, and more connected to myself.

Over time, breathwork became less about trying to “fix” myself and more about learning how to listen to myself. It helped me recognise how much of my life had been lived in tension, pressure, overthinking, and survival mode.

And most importantly, it showed me that healing doesn’t always have to look dramatic.
Sometimes it simply looks like finally feeling safe enough to breathe deeply again.

What You Can Expect

Sessions are designed to support reconnection to your breath, body, emotions, and nervous system.

Some experiences are deeply calming and regulating. Others may feel emotional, expansive, or activating. Every session is different because every nervous system is different.

My role is not to heal or fix you, but to guide and support the process while your body does what it already knows how to do.

This work is influenced by:

  • somatic breathwork

  • nervous system regulation

  • grounding and mindfulness practices

  • embodied awareness

  • lived experience navigating the demands of modern life

A Gentle Invitation

Soma & Solas is still growing and evolving, just as I am.

This space was never created to be polished or perfect.

It was created to feel grounded, human, and real.

If you’ve been craving space to slow down, reconnect, and return to yourself, you’re welcome here.
